Back on the Road again…

Friday, 8. July 2011

The Gearbox gave us a hard time in our last part of the Trip, it became so noisy that speaking was impossible. So we had to search a place to operate our old Landrover. Dissamble the Gearbox and order some parts in last minute. We waitet for about two weeks in Buenos Aires and forget our problems while partying in a hostel with other tourists. Days became night and night became days but as soon we had the box we went up to our car and rebuild the gearbox for the last time. In three days we get everything together made a service, replace crossjoints and some rubber things and the landrover is now ready as never before. The Gearbox makes no noise at all and our trip can be finished as we wished to. Thankfully we found a lot of new friends in San Antonio de Areco who supportet us with room, tools and helping information.
Our Trip get little bit shortcuttet, because of the shipping schedule and we can not see such many things we wish to. Soon a container will bring us back to europe and our trip will end, but untill then we will deliver you some impressive pictures from some special corners in this beautiful world. Thanks very much to all the friendly argenine people to support our dreams and special thanks to Jose Luis to have a lot of patience with us finishing the work.
stay tuned for more information

Fleischchäs und Butterzopf

Wednesday, 16. March 2011

Long time without news from us. too busy to write about our travels. Well arrived in columbia as you saw and on the road again with our Landrover. First of all we changed our Trailer a little bit, So we can mount our Boogie Boat on top of it and let it inflated for more easy handling. As well there are only natural Gas stations in the country but we need Propan Gas so we had to buy a bottle modificate it and put on the trailer as well. The best is check one of the new albums in the gallery. It explains more than words.
After this we made our way to Baranquilla where we was lucky to catch up with the start of the Carnevall. The 4 Hours Parade was good fun to see and the croud get`s more crazy with more aguadiente (local anis liquor). The Peninsula Guiajira atracts us to see the nontouristy places of this beautiful country so we drove with a other traveler from australia and his truck a 600Km roundtrip to the nowhere. Sandy dusty tracks and a lot of crossings where we only navigated with compas. Sometimes we meet a local to ask directions. There was no spanish anymore and the indinegous people could help us only a bit. At least we arrived at the northest point in south america. To get back to civilisation we managed to cross the green boarder to Venezuela. Only some locals told us that we are in a new country.
Lucky chavez didn`t catched us so we went directly back to the columbian side.
All the supply on the penninsula from Beer to Gasoline was from Venezuela, so that gaves us a reason to fill up our tanks and get some spare 400liter fuel for approximetly 150 dollar. Nice deal!
In the capital City we found back to civilisation.
Here we meet the Koller family from appenzell from Koyomad and he spoiled us with tasty swiss meet products, like Fleischchäs, Brotwurscht, Cervelat, Landjäger etc. The swiss bucher who is since 1961 here in columbia invited us to see his factory where the delicious and high quality products are made since 1969.
After two days of cleaning and welding the Landrover we are ready on the road again and heading direction south…

Welcome to South America

Tuesday, 15. February 2011

After a hard time of work in Colon to put the Car and the Trailer in a 20″ container and finish all the paperwork we fly to Cartagena in Columbia.
Arrived in this beautiful old spanish style City we done a part of the paperwork allready so it looks good to take the car out of customs on mondays.
At 5:30 we get up and fully motivated to the port, where we where waiting untill 7:15 for a custom officer wich not came, so we started by our self to get the car out.
A Big paperwork keept us busy for the whole day. They almost let us not in to the port because you have to wear a overall and not can enter the port with shorts. Lucky we could manage to go in and get our overalls out of the container, start to work and put the trailer more or less together.
Finally we got the Car out of the port bevore sunset and drive the first few kilometers to the hostel where we just wanna pull down the wet clothes and cool down under the could shower.
Here we go South America we are comming…

Diving with Panama Divers

Tuesday, 8. February 2011

Panama Divers took the world travel team out for a dive close to portobelo.
The nice coral formations and the small animals we saw made our dive unforgetable. The second dive we did by our self, just grab all your gear took a kayak which was almost sinking paddle out for about 100 meters and jumped in the water to see a small airplane and a Wreck at the same time. the rest of the shallow dive we spend a lot to check out the Reef close by so we spend almost 70 minutes under water.
Lucky we had good wetsuits so it was no problem to manage the temperature wich is lower compared to the northern locations we dived.
Thank you very much to take us out and showed us this nice and not so known area.
